In October the second graders led the prayer service for the “Blessing of the Animals”. In Life Science the students studied birds. At the end of the unit the students could describe a bird by its characteristics and explain the differences and similarities from other animals. At the end of the unit the children made two different types of bird feeders. One of the bird feeders was made from toilet paper rolls, bird seeds, and peanut butter. To make the second type of bird feeders the students had to measure different ingredients and mold them into cookie molds. They tried different measurements of the ingredients to see which measurements worked best to make the bird feeders.
