The seventh graders told the class their own scary or adventure stories, which they wrote over the course of several weeks in class, using all the elements of plot and incorporating active verbs, descriptive words, dialogue and suspense.  Everyone sat in a circle in the center of the room, around a paper campfire lit with an electric candle, while thunderstorm music played in the background.  Students lit up their faces from underneath with a flashlight to create a scarier effect.
